Arriving from executive producers Carlton Cuse of Lost, and Kerry Ehrin of Friday Night Lights, Bates Motel serves as a contemporary prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, and will depict the life of Norman Bates and his mother, prior to the events portrayed in Hitchcock’s masterpiece. A&E chose to skip a pilot of the series, and ordered a 10-episode first season run, with the first episode set to premiere at SXSW.
