Although the previews for Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 mentioned it was the “final chapter” of the series, there is already word that a third Halloween film will be produced and released for summer 2010. Many critics find this strange as H2 did not do well at the box-office last weekend, making only $17 million and being beaten out by The Final Destination 3D and Inglourious Basterds.
Rumor has it that the next installment will be created using 3D technology, much like H2‘s nemesis Final Destination. In addition, the film is rumored to be directed by Steve Minor, the director of the original Halloween series Halloween H2O (in addition to other horror films such as Friday the 13th Part 2 and Part 3).
However, true Halloween fans could be anticipating something completely new with a third installment. Many will remember that the original Halloween series did not have a ‘traditional’ third installment (Halloween 3: Season of the Witch)as it had absolutely nothing to do with Michael Myers. This could mean that another chapter in Michael Myers’ life could be something truly terrifying.
