BBC releases five webisodes ahead of the ‘Doctor Who’ season premiere

The British television series Doctor Who has been a staple of the science fiction landscape since the 60s, and after a brief hiatus, has successfully re-established itself under the guidance of ex-showrunner Russell T. Davies. In recent years, the show has seen a surge in popularity in North America, leading the BBC to ramp up their promotions as well as push up the premiere dates to closely align with the episode’s release in the UK. Ahead of the Season 7 premiere, however, the series has gone one step further by releasing five webisodes bridging the gap between the Christmas special The Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe and the season opener Asylum of the Daleks. The webisodes focus on Amy Pond and Rory Williams, the married companions of the Eleventh Doctor, giving a glimpse of what their life looks like in between visits from the Time Lord. The new season will premiere on September 1st at 9 pm EST, and the five webisodes can be seen below.
