Over the years, as the popularity of television has exploded, numerous critically acclaimed shows have found themselves unable to pick up traction amongst the commercial viewing audience, much to the chagrin of those who become ardent fans and supporters of the show. One such show was Veronica Mars, a modern-day hardboiled detective mystery series that starred Kristen Bell as the titular character, the daughter of ex-sheriff and private detective Keith Mars, who was a more-than-capable sleuth in her own right. The show managed to survive three seasons, with creator Rob Thomas, who went on to do the similarly critically acclaimed yet underseen series Party Down, unable to get networks interested in a fourth season, despite pitching a revamped version of the show that saw Veronica join the FBI. Over the years, however, there have been rumblings of a movie that have never moved beyond the rumour stage…until now. This morning, Thomas launched an official Kickstarter project for a movie version of the cult show, with Bell herself officially onboard, and for more details and/or to donate, you can see their Kickstarter page here, as well as the video below.
