Graceland, Season 1, Episode 5: “O-Mouth”
Written by: Matt Negrete
Directed by: Renny Harlin
Airs Thursdays at 10 pm (ET) on USA
On this week’s Graceland, Mike talked Bello into promoting him, Briggs and Charlie relived the past, Paige and Johnny played a betting game, and Jakes was MIA.
Now that Graceland‘s given the audience a decent introduction to each house member, the show decided it was time to dig a bit into some characters’ pasts, namely Briggs’s and Charlie’s. When an old target resurfaces, Briggs and Charlie go undercover as “Eric” and “Katie”, AKA aliases they’d adopted for an undercover mission during their first few years at Graceland. Sensing the sexual tension between the pair, Paige and Johnny place a bet on whether or not the two will hookup; the winner gets a free round of drinks for a week, courtesy of the loser’s wallet. Meanwhile, Mike spends the episode earning Bello’s trust, which mainly involves watching old western DVDs (turns out Bello’s a big fan of cowboys) and knocking a pesky store worker to the ground for refusing a request of Bello’s.
“O-Mouth” (named for the face one makes when shooting up) was a fairly decent, though average, episode. Mike’s love interest, Abby (who, thanks to Johnny, believes Mike is a pilot), is still a little dull–she bathed a stray dog and took him to the vet, but that was about all we saw of her. Johnny still needs a serious storyline before he himself can be taken seriously as a character, Paige could use something to do besides observing other people’s love lives, and Briggs remains the same enigmatic character he’s been since the beginning. Charlie, however, seems to be on the verge of something great, as the last shot of the episode suggests. As long as Graceland veers her storyline away from the generic, her character’s poised for some crucial developments in upcoming episodes.
