Because you apparently demanded it, Variety reports the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will be getting the reboot treatment from Lionsgate on July 22, 2016 and will see a reimagining of the origins of the group of teens gifted with extraterrestrial powers that they use to save the world from monstrous threats. The reboot will be scripted by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, with Haim Saban, Brian Casentini, Allison Shearmur, and Roberto Orci producing. The popular franchise debuted on Fox Kids in 1993 and has continually existed in eighteen different incarnations on television.

This new reboot is not the first time that the series will make the leap to the big screen. In 1995 20th Century Fox produced Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, which became quite the success after grossing over $66 million on a $15 million budget.
