Deadline reported today that following the success of his X-Men: Days of Future Past, Bryan Singer will return to direct X-Men: Apocalypse, the eighth installment in the franchise and Singer’s fourth.
Singer is also attached as Executive Producer and the film has already been slated for May 27, 2016. Deadline also speculates that this may finally be the first appearance of Channing Tatum as the beloved Gambit.
Fans got a teaser for the sequel in the end credits to Days of Future Past, in which an ancient mutant named Apocalypse, possibly the first mutant in existence according to the comics, was unleashed as a result of the previous film’s time shifting. Apocalypse will take place a decade after Days of Future Past and will pit the entire crew against this massive force.
