Justin Timberlake Going for the Oscar Nomination

Well, we’re entering award season which means a number of films and actors are spending considerable amounts of time and money trying to get themselves nominated for Academy Awards. Most people can agree on the fact that the David Fincher’s The Social Network will be very present at the awards this year. Whether it’s David Fincher nominated for Best Director, Aaron Sorkin for Best Screenplay, Jesse Eisenberg for Best Actor or Andrew Garfield for Best Supporting, The Social Network has a lot of bases covered. But what about Justin Timberlake?

Apparently Timberlake, who played Sean Parker, one of the founders of Napster, in the film, wants to get some Oscar action as well. There’s been some reports that he has been seeking advice of past winners on how to get the nom. and that he has been attending Academy screenings to meet and greet some voters.

There’s no question that there are a lot of politics involved with the Academy Awards, and that Timberlake’s “star power” could actually help him while meeting with voters. The real question is whether or not his performance really deserves an Oscar nomination, especially compared to Andrew Garfield’s. An moreover, even if he does get it, is there any chance that he will win?
