The five films nominated for Best Foreign Language Film by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will be announced next week. Right now they are down to nine contenders. On the list is a film that we here at Sound On Sight raved about way back in 2009 – Greece’s critically beloved Dogtooth (listen to our review from Sound On Sight Radio: episode #163).
Also on the list is Montreal’s very own Incendies by director Denis Villeneuve. Both films made our “best of the year” list, so I highly recommend you check them out. You can listen to our review of Incendies here.
Here is the list of eligible films.
- Outside the Law – Algeria
- Incendies – Canada
- In a Better World – Denmark
- Dogtooth – Greece
- Confessions – Japan
- Biutiful – Mexico
- Life Above All – South Africa
