With school ending and summer approaching, Blue Sunshine is presenting one of the greatest episodes of television ever made (in any genre, from any era), and certainly one of TV’s great down endings: School’s Out! was the TV movie finale of the legendary Canadian school kids classic that helped shape a generation. The film proved a success and drew in around 2.325 million Canadian viewers on its initial showing, doubling the average audience that Degrassi High received and featured eight songs from Toronto-based rock group Harem Scarem as well as songs by popular Canadian 80s singer (now Styx lead singer) Lawrence Gowan.
What better way to see it again or for the first time with Degrassi writer Yan Moore in person to introduce the film / for post-screening Q+A!
The event will take place on Saturday, May 28th at Blue Sunshine – 3660 St.Laurent, 3rd Flr, Montreal.
Doors: 7:45pm
Film: 8:30pm
Even more, Blue Sunshine will kick off its Talking Heads Script Reading Series an all-new monthly event, where local screenwriters can hear their dream projects finally come alive, as scripts are read “cold” by a cast of actors without any advance rehearsals! Taking inspiration from similar cold reading series in Vancouver and Toronto, Blue Sunshine will host this new forum as a way of acquainting writers, directors, and actors from Montreal’s film scene with each other’s work, and allow for critical discussion to fine-tune and polish good scripts into great ones!
