According to worstpreviews.com, Captain America director Joe Johnston has been in talks to direct Jurassic Park 4 for many years and might just have his chance. Apparently now Steven Spielberg is starting to consider producing a fourth instalment and has reportedly been having meetings with screenwriter Mark Protosevich (Thor, I Am Legend) to come up with a script.
The American Film Institute named Jurassic Park the 35th most thrilling film of all time and Bravo chose the scene in which Lex and Tim are stalked by two Raptors in the kitchen as the 95th scariest of all time in 2005. On Empire magazine’s fifteenth anniversary in 2004, it judged Jurassic Park the sixth most influential film of the magazine’s lifetime. After seeing Jurassic Park’s use of computer-generated imagery, Stanley Kubrick contacted Spielberg to direct A.I. Artificial Intelligence. Even Werner Herzog was similarly impressed, citing the movie as an example of Spielberg being a “great storyteller” and that he knows how to weave special effects into coherent stories. So the film was critically acclaimed and won audiences worldwide grossing $914 million on a $63 million budget. There is of course money to be made but the question is, does anyone care to see another instalment in the franchise or would we rather see both Johnston and Spielberg work on something a bit more original. In any case, it is still a much better idea than the Oldboy remake the two were planing before the film ran into rights issues.
