Just today, Radioshack released their Super Bowl ad proving they have no problem in making fun of themselves. The electronics outlet’s newest television spot, “The Phone Call,” admits the obvious – RadioShack’s business aesthetics have been stuck in the 80’s. But Radioshack isn’t the only company turning to the most rad decade to promote their business. Delta recently released this funny in-flight safety video, a five and a half minute nod to the ’80s pop culture. From homages to break dancing, high fades, scrunchies and a Devo hat, not to mention cameos by Gordon Shumway (a.k.a. ALF), Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Atari, and the Rubik’s Cube, the ad delivers the necessary safety information we hear on every flight, while tapping into a kind of nostalgia that a lot of people will enjoy. How many ’80s references did you spot? Let us know in the comment section below.
