After the success of 2013’s Frances Ha, it looks like writing/directing team Noah Baumbach and Greta Gerwig will be joining up again for another feature. With the film expected to be screened at Sundance in January, Fox Searchlight has jumped on distributing the film, which will be Baumbach’s second film of the year.
The third collaboration between Gerwig and Baumbach, Mistress America also stars Lola Kirke. The synopsis is as follows: “In ‘Mistress America, Tracy (Kirke) is a lonely college freshman in New York, having neither the exciting university experience nor the glamorous metropolitan lifestyle she envisioned. But when she is taken in by her soon-to-be stepsister, Brooke (Gerwig) – a resident of Times Square and adventurous gal about town – she is rescued from her disappointment and seduced by Brooke’s alluringly mad schemes.”
The film will debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January and will join While We’re Young as the second feature that Baumbach will be debuting this year. While We’re Young stars Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts and premiered last year at TIFF before being picked up by A24 Films for a March 27 release.
