Michael Myers is back from the dead yet again, with another Halloween sequel/reboot in the horror franchise reportedly planned from Dimension and The Weinstein Company.
Moviehole first broke the news over the weekend that Halloween Returns was being written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (Saw franchise, The Collector, Feast) with Bloody Disgusting later adding that Dunstan would be directing as well.
Moviehole claims that Halloween Returns will be a “stand-alone” film and will take place years after Myers’s original murderous rampage. Now the killer is on trial, and the 18-year-old child of one of Myers’s victims is obsessed with his case. Myers then escapes from his planned execution and hunts down those with a vendetta against him.
Rob Zombie however, the creator of the original franchise, is reportedly not involved in this latest project, having left the franchise after its last reboot, which ended with 2009’s Halloween II.
Shooting is scheduled to begin on Halloween Returns in July.
