Maybe Amy Poehler is looking more and more likely for that Daily Show job after all. After Jessica Williams had an Internet feud last week saying she was unqualified for the hosting position to replace Jon Stewart, one more name has been scratched off our list of viable replacements in one of the show’s most senior correspondents, Jason Jones.

Jones tweeted today, “For 9 & 1/2 years, I have worked at one of the greatest TV shows of all time. But… It is time for me to go.”

His new gig will be a currently untitled sitcom with TBS based on his and his wife Samantha Bee’s family road trip experiences, according to Deadline. The comedy pilot for the show got picked up by TBS for a 10-episode order.

Deadline confirmed the departure with Comedy Central today and had word that although Jones had filled in for Stewart while he was ill, Jones was not considered a candidate for replacement. Bee however, who has been even more senior than Jones, will remain with the show for the time being.

The TBS sitcom is expected to begin production this summer before the show premieres at the end of the year, so expect that we have a few more solid months with Jones on The Daily Show before he departs.
