Johnny Depp to make Keith Richards documentary

Johnny Depp has reportedly divulged that he’s set to direct a documentary based on Keith Richards, the Rolling Stones guitarist and the inspiration for his Jack Sparrow character in Pirates of The Caribbean. It was on the set of the third instalment that they met, in which Richards played Capt. Jack Sparrow’s father.

As The Playlist points out, Depp is confident in not disappointing critics, fans nor distributors unlike bis previous directing effort The Brave starring Marlon Brando. The film did generate a best actor award at the Cannes Film Festival but was so badly received that it never picked up any distribution in the U.S.

Depp explained in a translated interview with the European Media: “Now that I’m wiser, and that enough time has passed, I can experience directing again. Already next week I’ll start working on a Keith Richards documentary. While I’m in Drvengrad, my editor is already working on kilometres of archive footage and footage of his concerts. I’m very touched that Keith agreed to show up in front of my cameras.”
