We may not be getting a new book in the Game of Thrones series, but it looks like more work by George R.R. Martin will be headed to the big screen.
The Hollywood Reporter reported on Monday that Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich and Shameless actor Justin Chatwin will lead Martin’s In The Lost Lands. The film will be comprised of short stories written by the Game of Thrones scribe early in his career.
German director Constantin Werner will direct and write the film with an expected start date to be later this year.
The plot follows like this: In one thread, the desperate queen of a city built into a towering mountain hires the sorceress Gray Alys (Jovovich) to travel into the ghostly wasteland called the Lost Lands, to obtain the gift of shape shifting into a werewolf, but she doesn’t realize that the fulfillment of her wish will come at a terrible price.
Meanwhile, warrior girl Sharra must fight a dragon that serves as the gatekeeper of seven worlds to reunite with her lost lover Kaydar. During this quest she meets the mysterious lord of a deserted castle, Laren Dorr, who seduces her so completely that she forgets her quest and stays with him, unaware that he is the real gatekeeper.
And in the futuristic tale Bitterblooms, a young barbarian girl gets spellbound by a lonely witch in a spacecraft, who shows her beauty and love, which turns out to be a net of lies and deceit.
Martin has already announced that he will not have a new Game of Thrones book out this year, but it looks like fans will have another property of his to be excited about as if the fifth season of the popular fantasy HBO series wasn’t enough to have people going crazy.
