‘Monsters 2′ is on the way Minus Director Gareth Edwards

It’s really no surprise that a sequel to Gareth Edwards’ surprise indie hit Monsters is on its way, but don’t expect Garreth Edwards to return in the directors chair, and why should he considering he has bigger plans ahead (Godzilla). UK distributor Vertigo Films, who is now developing Monsters 2 is assigning directing duties to the duo of Brent Bonacorso and Jesse Atlas instead.

According to Screen Daily, Gareth Edwards and the original star Scoot McNairy will executive produce the film, and while there is still no word on casting, the film will be produced for a much higher budget ced for a much higher budget d on casting, ctors chair and why should he, considering he has bigger plans aheadthan the original.

Allan Niblo of Vertigo Films promises “lots more creatures” in this follow-up, and that many actors have expressed “quite a lot of interest” in starring in the film. “We wouldn’t have done it if we didn’t find the right talent]. Gareth loves their vision. People want to see more of this world,” Niblo explains.

Vertigo Film also has a new project for director Nicholas Winding Refn in development and also a 3D film adaptation of Horrid Henry (which will be released on July 29 on 450 screens) and the release of Fred Cavayé’s French thriller Point Blank starring Gilles Lellouche, Roschdy Zem, Gerard Lanvin, and Elena Anaya.
