New Daredevil Movie

The Fox-affiliated production company New Regency, which produced the initial Daredevil has plans to reboot the franchise. What’s worse is the company has hired screenplay writer David Scarpa best known for the awful 2008 sci-fi remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. The first Daredevil film, which was only released seven years ago performed reasonably well ($180 million world wide) enough to prompt the spinoff Elektra. It’s not yet established who from those casts might return but I think the bigger question is why? Do we really need to reboot the Daredevil Franchise? According to the L.A. Times, the new script would not be burdened down with nearly as much of the mythology that saddles the Spider-Man franchise, which over three films intensively explored the character’s origins and development.
