Niel Jordan Returns to the Vampire Genre

Niel Jordan’s Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles grosses around $36.4m, on opening weekend in the number one position at the US box office. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards – for Best Art Direction/Set Decoration and for Best Original Score, and grossed $224 million overall, with an estimated budget of $60 million. So in other words, it was Jordan’s most successful film to date.

Well it seems Jordan is taking on the genre once again. Seventeen years after Interview, returning to horror with Byzantium, scripted by Moira Buffini and inspired by her theatre play. The film will star Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton with an  $11 million dollar production budget and a story about a  mother and a daughter who make somewhat of a lethal team.

It seems like vampires won’t go out of style. Earlier this week we reported that Jim jarmusch is also working on a vampire movie with Michael Fassbender, Mia Wasikowska, Tilda Swinton and John Hurt.
