New Nintendo Direct announced for tomorrow

New Nintendo Direct announced for tomorrow

nd-1280x720

Nintendo has announced a Nintendo Direct scheduled for 3PM PT tomorrow.  The topic of discussion is “the latest on upcoming Wii U and 3DS games.”  Following the Direct will also be a live Nintendo Treehouse presentation, like those featured during E3 last year, which is going to feature one of Nintendo’s spring releases.

While that’s not a whole lot to go on, a couple of reasonable predictions can be made.  Several titles anticipated for release this spring will likely receive official release dates including Splatoon, currently slated for a May release, and Yoshi’s Wooly World, set to release some time in quarter two (spring or early summer) this year.  The second DLC expansion for Mario Kart 8 is also scheduled for a May release, and a firm date will probably be given for that.  Speaking of DLC, the highly anticipated Mewtwo DLC for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS , free to Club Nintendo members who register both versions of the game by today, is scheduled for a spring release, so you can expect an exact date to be given in that regard.

Super Smash Bros. has had a steady stream of compatible amiibo figures over the past few months, so it isn’t unthinkable that we might get a release date for the fourth amiibo wave and figures which will be included in the fifth wave.  Less certain is whether Nintendo will cover other anticipated or rumored titles including the Wii U’s StarFox title, Xenoblade Chronicles X (scheduled to release in Japan April 29!), and the speculated Pokemon Rumble World rumored title or whether Nintendo will save official information about those titles for E3.  Who knows, we might even glean something about Club Nintendo’s replacement program with the end of Club Nintendo nigh.

One thing can be certain, however, and that is that the Legend of Zelda Wii U title delay announced by Aonuma will probably not actually be an April Fool’s joke, as wonderful as that might be. We’ll probably have to wait until 2016 to get our hands on the next Zelda. Until then, we have a Nintendo Direct to look forward to and a whole bunch of news and titles to help us coast until then. Thanks for reading, and happy speculating!
