Oscar buzz blowing in the wind, listen for the names

The leaves are stirring and Oscar season is right around the corner. This year it has been announced that the old pro Steve Martin will be back to host with the friendly Mr. Alec Baldwin. This will be Alec’s first time hosting while Steve is an old pro making this third time the charm.

It is an interesting choice, yet sure to be full of the usual wit and humor that the commentary is usually speckled with. Though last year’s dance number was a crowd pleaser, it will curious to see how they work Baldwin and Martin into a dance routine.

According to deadline.com, Oscar telecast producers Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman said,

oscars2009“We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars,” said Shankman and Mechanic.  “Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event.”

Other names that were tossed around for this years host include Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr, both of whom starred in the epic comedy Tropic Thunder.

It is the 82nd year for the Oscars. The Academy Awards for the biggest and best of 2009 will be presented on Sunday, March 7, 2010, televised live by the ABC Television Network.
