PaleyFest 2013: Watch the full panel for ‘Nashville’

Nashville

The success of the Fox hit Glee proved the viability of musicals in television, opening the doors for several stories to be told in that format. One of those was ABC’s Nashville, which made its debut in Fall 2012, with the additional feature of writing its own songs. Focusing on three female country singers at various stages in their career, the show is headlined by Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere, and has been renewed for a second season. The cast and crew sat down at PaleyFest 2013 to discuss what was in store for the show for the rest of this season and next.

– The relationship between Deacon and Rayna will continue to change and evolve as the show goes on, with no clear cut path or destination for the two. The entire panel, however, revealed no details with respect to Maddie’s lineage.

– The pairing of Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen, who play Gunnar and Scarlett respectively, was not tested before shooting, as it was palpable on the first day. Their relationship, while it will be tested, is not on the outs anytime yet, as the crew states that it would be out of character for Scarlett to leave Gunnar while he’s at a fragile point.

– The show uses real-life road musicians as consultants to ensure that their concerts have the right feel to them.

These, and many other details, were discussed at the panel, which can be seen below. The show returns Wednesday, March 27th, on ABC, at 10 pm.
