So yeah….I’d say I’m back….for a sequel.
It seems like more badass Keanu Reeves is on the way as Forbes announced on Monday that Lionsgate has greenlit John Wick 2. The project will bring back Reeves as well as directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, and screenwriter Derek Kolstad.
The first film was a surprise hit after grossing $43 million on a $20 million budget. As of now, there is no word on who will return outside of Reeves and the directors and writers, but it would seem likely that some of the side characters could return (barring they didn’t meet their end at the hands of John Wick in the first movie).
John Wick followed an ex-hitman (Reeves) who comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him.
Forbes adds that Lionsgate is shopping the international rights at Cannes this week and a release date is currently unknown. It may be awhile after Stahelski and Leitch just recently signed on to do Bloodshot and Harbinger adaptation for Sony.
