Quentin Tarantino’s appearances in the news over the last few months have been a saga worthy of his own filmography.
THR reported on Wednesday that the story of Django Unchained will continue in a new comic book series mashing up Django and Zorro.
Tarantino and Matt Wagner (Mage, Grendel) will co-write the comic series and have it co-published by DC Entertainment and Dynamite Entertainment set for release later this year, THR reported.
Django/Zorro will continue the adventures of Django Freeman, but this isn’t Django‘s first journey to the page. Back in 2013 R.M. Guera illustrated a seven-issue series adapting the film’s full screenplay.
This comes not long after Tarantino said at Cannes that he hopes to recut an additional 90 minutes of unused Django footage into a four-hour miniseries on cable TV.
Couple that with the news that Tarantino will in fact start production on The Hateful Eight this November, another Western starring Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Amber Tamblyn, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen and Bruce Dern. Tarantino previously threatened to shelve The Hateful Eight after Gawker shared a leaked script.
Hopefully all this activity and output will make Tarantino happier than he is about Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Palme D’Or.
