In today’s ‘Nintendo Direct’, Nintendo’s global president Satoru Iwata revealed a new Legend of Zelda Wii U title that is the product of a collaboration with Tecmo Koei, in the style of their Dynasty Warriors series. This announcement will hopefully prove to be a distraction from the ongoing debate amongst fans about whether or not the next installment in the core Legend of Zelda series should stick to the current formula, or break from tradition as hinted by director and producer Eiji Aonuma.
Here it is:
The trailer has been met with mixed feedback: Some fans excited and curious to see how the game turns out, some seem assured that Nintendo are making a terrible mistake, while others are prepared to close their eyes and pretend this never happened. While it does look a little rough around the edges, with graphics that would look more at home on a 3DS or MMO than a current gen home console title, if you keep in mind Link’s vast array of weapons and items gathered in his many adventures you’ll agree that the potential exists for this game to be a lot of fun.
Keep in mind though that the game will be little more than a spin off and fans shouldn’t expect too much. Keep milking that pointy-eared cash cow, Nintendo.
