An official Facebook page was launched for the hotly anticipated Scream documentary Still Screaming: The Ultimate Scary Movie Retrospective, which is set for DVD/Blur-ray release in April to coincide with the release of Scream 4.
Written and directed by Ryan Turek, the doc covers the first three films and will take you inside the lives of both the actors and director Wes Craven’s life while shooting the series. The feature will also include a fictional tie-in along with rare archival footage, never-before-seen photos, new on-set stories, and will reveal the entire success of Scream from its inception right up to the new movie.
Released in 1996, Scream was a major commercial success and won praise for giving new life to the horror genre with its tongue-in-cheek approach and satirical references to the conventions of slasher flicks. The blockbuster spawned the subsequent two sequels (released in 1997 and 2000, respectively), with each of the three films grossing more than $160 million US worldwide. Scream 4 is set to open next month, and given the long wait is expected to do well at the box office. I’m predicting it will be the highest grossing slasher film of all time. Only time will tell.
Scream 4 is set for release on April 15. Check out four, brand new, official images after the jump.
