Matthew J. Thériault’s Summer Reading List

My own summer reading list is in many ways a re-reading list. In the absence of any duties at the university during the break, the sunny summer days are perfect for pulling overtime at my day job and getting paid to revisit some of my favorite creative runs and story-arcs, in addition to some newly …

This Japanese ‘Civil War’ Commercial Has the Perfect Soundtrack

I don’t normally post TV spots. For one, they’re on the short side, and they rarely have anything really new or interesting to comment on. But there are exceptions, like this Japanese tv spot for Captain America: Civil War. Sure, the spot features a teensy-weensy bit of new Spider-Man footage. If you pause and squint, you …

Get the Full Story on Marvel’s ‘Civil War’ (The Comics Version) in This Animated Video

Right now, comics fans the world over are being asked by their non-comics-fans friends what this whole Civil War thing is about, and why the normally chummy Iron Man and Captain America are going to be slugging it out in the next Marvel movie. The answer, I believe, is a sigh of frustration and bitterness around 98% of …

Male-centered ‘Ghostbusters’ coming from ‘Captain America’ directors and Channing Tatum

It seems like the idea of a Ghostbusters universe is still alive and well. Deadline reported on Monday that Sony is working on a male-centered Ghostbusters movie with Channing Tatum and the Russo brothers (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) behind it. This news comes a week after the Russos signed a first-look deal with Sony. …

Spider-Man is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Some Important Questions

UPDATED 2/10 7:30: Variety is now reporting from “sources with knowledge of the studio’s plans” that Sony will now be looking to send Spider-Man back to high school for the new standalone films.
