Crossballs was very entertaining during its initial run and upon rewatching, it very much holds up. The cast were all on top of their game and have become entertainers worth following, building cult statuses for themselves in comedy scenes in LA and podcasts networks that reach a niche audience, but I’m not sure how many of their fans have come across Crossballs, much less the masses. There really has not been a venue to re-experience this show for a long time and not until it was uploaded to Youtube a few years ago could it have even begun to build a cult audience for itself.

Physical performances reign and racial politics falter in “Funeral”, the third episode of Another Period. While the season so far has been undeniably strong, it still continues to search for its voice – no episode has hit every mark. Last week Lillian and Beatrice paid their husbands two million dollars to fake their deaths, this week they hold the “funeral of the season”, hoping to attract new lovers.

With increased confidence, Another Period’s second episode, “Divorce”, tackles the taboos of rape and divorce with fantastic delirium.

Another Period is more satire than parody, as it tackles our society’s perverse fascination with the lifestyles of the rich and famous by framing its turn of the century-era setting through the gauze of modern reality television.
