Ghosts of the past take center stage in ‘Afterlife with Archie’ #8

Afterlife with Archie is finally back, with the third chapter of the ominously titled arc “Betty RIP.” So far the series has shown it is willing to expand it’s horror goals beyond mere zombies, first intertwining H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos into the series, and now paying homage to Stephen King and Stanley Kubrick’s paranoia filled tale, The Shining, with a healthy dose of Charles Dickens thrown in for good measure. The result is an issue that is more somber and dread-filled than previous issues, full of slow-burn fear and hidden threats.

‘Sabrina’ #1 is a Dark and Entertaining Beginning

Sabrina #1 is a prequel, spin-off of sorts stemming from the Afterlife with Archie universe. For those unfamiliar with Afterlife, it effectively proves Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s worth as not only an excellent writer but really adding a unique flavouring to very well known characters. Having Aguirre-Sacasa on the helm for Sabrina is exciting for fans of Afterlife. Though it may seem unfortunate that Francesco Francavilla is not doing the artwork, there is no need to worry because Robert Hack really brings a classical horror tinged touch (EC Comics style) to the pages of Sabrina.
