Sometimes You Come Out of the Closet, Sometimes You Come in it.
Well, it was fun while it lasted, Interview magazine. As presumed, Carrie was banished from the big city by daddy Bradshaw; but feel free to save the tears, because as far as consolation prizes go, you could do a lot worse then Sebastian Kydd (Tom’s just picking his battles with this one?), and despite Carrie’s side gig of being a self-saboteur, it’s looking like ‘Kyddshaw’ is here to stay (or for at least another four episodes.)
Yes “The Great Unknown” featured a few now token Carrie Diaries tropes. Did Dorrit pull a stunt? Yes. Did Mouse get caught in an academic related foible? Yes. Did Carrie’s Dad get a blowjob from a jazzercise instructor in a gym supply closet? Yes. But did Walt also come out of the closet to Donna who was was miles beyond cool about it? Yes. It’s safe to say that when Walt’s sexual preference was revealed, no one thought Donna LaDonna could redeem herself by becoming Walt’s confidant and beacon of light.
Near the end of the episode, did anyone else feel like they were tying up loose ends? With Walt’s story, with Carrie getting out of her own way about Sebastian, and with Tom (thanks to Larissa) getting out of Carrie’s way about Interview, it all felt a little reminiscent of the way a show neatly comes together at the end of the season when they’re still on the bubble. Only, with at least four episodes left, the issue of closure probably doesn’t need to be addressed. Then again maybe it’s just the setup for the most buck wild Manolo Blahnik wearing back end the CW has ever seen.
