AMC’s The Walking Dead premiere ratings were gigantic: The 90-minute Halloween night debut delivered 5.3 million viewers and a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating. These numbers are well above the bar set by Mad Men and Breaking Bad.
That’s the largest demo audience for any series premiere on any cable network this year.
It’s also the highest numbers for any series in AMC’s history, and beat most non-sports programs on broadcast Sunday night. Unless Walking Dead suffers an enormous ratings drop off in the coming weeks, a second season order is very likely.
Luckily for us over here at Sound On Sight, we have decided that for the first time we would launch a podcast devoted entirely to a television series and in case you missed it, our first episode was released Monday November 1st.
