Spectre

One of the most iconic aspects of the films of James Bond, one of the longest-running film franchises that has been going on for over 50 years, has been the title song. Unofficially referred to as the “Bond song”, past performers have included  Shirley Bassey (who performed the Bond songs of the same name for both 1964’s Goldfinger and 1971’s Diamonds are Forever), Tom Jones (who sang the titular theme for 1965’s Thunderball), Tina Turner (who sang the Bond song of the same name for 1995’s Goldeneye), Paul McCartney and Wings (who did the main song for 1973’s Live and Let Die) and Garbage (who sang “The World Is Not Enough” for 1999’s The World Is Not Enough).

With the 24th entry in the franchise, titled Spectre, set to premiere later this year, Sam Smith will be taking over the reins from Adele, who performed “Skyfall” for the 2012 film of the same name, with “Writing’s On The Wall”. With the song itself having been released last month, an accompanying music video has also been released, and can be seen below. Spectre will open in US and Canadian theatres on November 6th.
