Which Movie Ads Will Appear During the Super Bowl?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has five Super Bowl commercial spots for their most highly anticipated films of 2010: Super 8, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor and Rango.

Disney will also be promoting Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; DreamWorks will promote Cowboys & Aliens and Relativity will air a spot for Limitless.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony bought pregame ads for Just Go With It, Battle: Los Angeles and Priest, Focus Features has got an early spot for The Eagle and Jamie Bell and Paramount will run Kung Fu Panda 2, but none of these will play during the game simply because it is too expensive.

Warner Bros. and Fox appear to be sitting this year out, but that could change. And studios participating could add spots for other films before the game or after during the special Superbowl Glee episode.

“Rates for the Feb. 6 game on Fox are running about $3 million per 30-second spot, up slightly from last year. But the Super Bowl delivers TV’s most powerful audience, with a record 106 million viewers tuning in last year. Although studios have been spending less since 2006 because of the prohibitive cost, they are major supporters of the big game. For instance, a new study from Kanta Media says Disney has spent $70.8 million on Super Bowl ads since 2001.”

Here are the ten best commercials from last years game.
